There are so many things the kids say or do, that I often think, "I should write that down." So, now I am! Most of these things are pretty insignificant, but they are small things from our normal, every day life that I want to remember. I'm sure there'll be many more. :)

As I've mentioned, Kade requires quite a bit of guidance right now. I didn't realize it, but I have gotten into the habit of saying, "Do you understand?" when I am finished talking to him. So now, when I say, "Do you understand?", he hangs his little head and mutters, "I unstand." He even sticks out his bottom lip a little. Pretty pathetic and adorable all at the same time.

I can't remember the exact context, but the other day, something wasn't working the way that Marleigh thought it should. She kind of sighed, put her hands on her hips and said, "Well, I guess I'll just have to improvise." We asked her if she knew what that meant, and she explained it quite well. Silly girl is way too grown up already at the age of 4!

Kade grabbed Marc's iPad a few mornings ago. He knows that he is not to have Daddy's iPad. Marc walked in and questioned him.
Marc: Are you supposed to have that, Bubba?
Kade (grinning devilishly): Yes.
Marc: Did you ask permission?
Kade: Yes.
Marc: Who did you get permission from?
Kade (now grinning from ear to ear): You, Daddy.
Good try, Kade, but that one didn't fly.

I always read a book to Marleigh every night. It was kind of late one night, and I was tired, so I told her to hurry up and pick out a short book. She looked back over her should, shot me a dirty look, and said, "Rude, Susie!", which is what I always say when someone is being rude. I had to laugh at her.

The kids were back in Marleigh's room playing, and I could hear Marleigh reading Kade the riot act. I snuck down the hallway just in time to hear the conclusion to Marleigh's lecture:
Marleigh: Kade you don't stand on my bed cause you could fall and hurt yourself. Sissy doesn't want you to hurt yourself. So no standing up on my bed. Do you understand?
Kade (hanging head): I unstand.
(Maybe I should really layoff the "Do you understand?". Ha ha.)

This one I had put on fb, but it was pretty funny, and I don't want to forget it.
Marleigh and I were driving down a 4 lane road a few weeks back. I passed an ederly gentleman. Marleigh turns towards him as we are passing him and shouts, "Is that all the faster you can go, old man?" and throws her hands in the air. Proud parenting moment, right there. ;)

We had some scary weather around here over the weekend, including a tornado that we could see from our yard. Last night as we were saying our bedtime prayers, Marleigh prayed, "God, I really don't like tornadoes. Could you please make them all go away and keep everyone safe?" What a sweet thought. No more tornadoes.
