For the past few days Marleigh has been spitting up quite a bit & seeming unsettled. We're pretty sure it is reflux. We've tried feeding her smaller amounts more frequently, burping her really well, & holding her upright for 30-45 minutes after feedings. No dice. Nothing seems to help. Any advice? She's not spitting up very large amounts, but its pretty frequent.
We head to the pediatrician for a check up tomorrow. They'll weight adjust her phenobarb. The last time it was adjusted was when she was 4 lb 11oz, so it is much needed! Hopefully we can get rid of the diuretic & caffiene tomorrow as well. That would mean only 2 meds instead of 4!
We'll let you know how it goes!
Happy Birthday, Marleigh! Can't believe she's already 3 months old!!! Hope all goes well at the dr! I'm sure she's changed a ton since he last saw her. Sounds like you're doing all the right things to keep her food down--hopefully he can give you some advice. SO glad that you're all home and that Marleigh is doing so well. 5 1/2 pounds!!! Amazing! Take care and know we're thinking of you all and praying for you!

Sara & Mark:
ReplyDeleteTry putting the head of her bed on a brick, one brick under each leg on each side. That would elevate her head when she sleeps and it might work. Just a suggestion. Glad you are all home and a happy family now. I'm so glad you are keeping up with your reports. I felt lost when I could not check on you.
Hope the check up goes well and I'm sure the Dr.'s will have suggestions on the reflux.
Know that you are all still in our prayers and we are anxious to meet darling Marleigh.
Love,
Jimmy's Mom Paula Simms
Is Marleigh still nursing? I know that Curtis had a slight lactose intolerance for awhile (not anymore)and when I stopped eating cheese, milk, etc, he seemed happier and did not spit up as much. From Deanna's experience, spices and milk products bothered her kids.
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion if you are nursing, try taking out some things and see where that gets you.
Take care and we think about you a lot!!

Hey guys! Glad to have the new site up and going. Glad you have a checkup tomorrow; I'm sure they'll be able to help you with the spit up issues. She must be continuing to gain well as she is well over the 5 lb mark! Know you are still having some long days and even longer nights. Just sleep as much as you can while she's sleeping and know that we're all still here praying for you! Love, Aunt Pam
