Memorial Weekend

We had a great Memorial Weekend.

Saturday, we were planning on heading to Wichita as a family, but my Dad needed some help doing silage, so Marc stayed home to work for my Dad.  Instead, Gigi, Aunt Shannon, & Luke joined us.  We met Aunt Monica at Olive Garden (YUMMMY!!!)  and then went and saw Monica's new apartment.  It is very nice.  She was just moving in, but nice enough to let us put the kids down for naps at her place.  After naps, we headed to the state track meet to watch my cousin, Ben.  He ran the 300 M hurdles.  He ended up finishing second.  He was just barely out of first.  We are very proud of him!  Marleigh loved watching his track meets this year!

We spent the night at my sister's house on Saturday, and headed home early Sunday morning.  On our way home, we stopped by the feedyard.  Marleigh loved riding with her Daddy.  Last year she was a little apprehensive about the big tractors and trucks.  This year she couldn't get enough of them!  Marc sat her on his lap and she got to drive the tractor up and down the big silage pile.  She was grinning from ear to ear.   Silly mommy forgot to bring the camera (again).  Brought back old memories from when I was a little girl sitting on my Dad's lap driving the push tractors.  :)  Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVED growing up on a farm?!?

After our nap on Saturday, Mommy and Marleigh went outside to play.  Ever since we went swimming the weekend before, Marleigh has been begging me to swim.  We didn't go swimming, but I think she had just as much fun.

Yesterday, before Marc had to be at the feed yard, we went to the cemetary to see Natalie.  It was so miserably windy, we didn't spend a whole lot of time there.  I did want to share a picture of Natalie's Memorial that will be at the splash pad.  We are so very grateful for all the donations, volunteers, and support that helped make this possible.

The Grand Opening of the park and splash pad is this coming Friday evening at 6:00pm.  Hot dogs will be provided.  Please bring a side and desert and join us if you can.

Congrats to Dave and Marinda!

This past weekend, Marc's sister Marinda got married in Manhattan.  It was a beautiful wedding and Marinda made a gorgeous bride!  Dave is a great addition to our family, and we couldn't be happier for them.  I wish I had pictures to share, but I swear being pregnant makes you so forgetful.  I left my camera at home!  :(

Marleigh was such a good girl.  We ate at McDonald's before the wedding on Saturday.  As we were finishing up, a stranger came over to our table and told us what a well behaved, pretty little girl we have.  We thanked him of course, and Marleigh pointed to his shirt and grinned, yelling, "POWERCAT!"  He had on a K-State shirt.  The gentlemen then added, "and smart, too!"

As I said, the wedding was beautiful.  Marleigh colored and played through most of it.  Then all of the sudden she started belting out, "Baa Baa Blacksheep".  I guess she decided that Aunt Marinda needed a solo from Marleigh to add a little spice to the wedding!

Marleigh had a great time at the reception.  She loved dancing with her Daddy.  It was adorable to watch.

Saturday night, Marleigh didn't get to bed until 9:30, which is about and hour and a half after her normal bedtime.  I was kind of hoping she would sleep in.  I should never have told her that we would go swimming when she woke up.  At 6:56am, I hear, "Mommy, I woke up.  Let's go swimming!"  We ate breakfast, then went down to the pool.  After about 35 minutes, her little teeth were chattering and lips were a little blue, so we headed back to the room.  While we were waiting on the elevator Marleigh looked at me and said, "I went swimming!  Thank you, Mommy!  I love you!"  Makes me so excited for summertime and the splash pad!

Randomness

The other day, I was getting home from work around 2:00.  My mom had Marleigh at our house.  As I walked in, she told me to be quiet.  Marleigh has in her room, but wasn't asleep yet for her nap.  We could hear her singing "Baa Baa Blacksheep"  and just talking up a storm.  I was whispering very quietly.  Then we hear Marleigh say, "Mommy, I hear you talking."  Little stinker has super sonic ears!  I went in and I rocked her for a bit.  Just because I can.  I keep thinking it won't be too many more years and she won't want to rock or to snuggle with Mama.

Marleigh loves music and loves to dance.  Her new favorite thing to do is to make baby brother "dance"  with her.  She runs over and pulls up my shirt.  She places both hands on my tummy and makes it wiggle.  To her, it is the funniest thing in the world.  She squeals with delight.  I'm not sure baby brother finds it as amusing! As soon as she is done making him "dance",  he starts kicking like crazy.  :)

We've had quite the exciting last few weeks with the Johnson side of our family.  Marc's youngest sister, Monica, graduated from KSU last weekend.  We are proud of her and very excited as she is moving to Wichita soon.    Tomorrow, Marc's sister, Marinda, is getting married.  We are thrilled to be adding another outlaw to our group!  Dave fits in perfectly!!!  We love you both and wish you many years of happiness!!!

Another trip to Hutch

I had another check up yesterday.  Marleigh went with us.  Dr. Cullan got out his doppler and we listened to the baby's heartbeat.  142 beats a minute.  Marleigh was grinning the entire time.  As Dr. Cullan was getting done, Marleigh looked at me and said, "Good job, Mommy!"  Everyone got a good laugh.  That's what I always tell her when we get done at her doctor appointments.

We then had to stop by my sister's house.  She is pregnant!  We are so incredibly excited for her and Kyle!  Luke is going to make such a great big brother.  He already has proven that, the way he loves Marleigh.  :)  She is due 4 months after I am, so our kids will be close in age.

Luke and Marleigh played on Luke's computer with Shannon after dinner last night.  It was adorable to watch.

Tender heart

Marleigh has about the most tender heart of any little kid I have ever seen.  She absolutely hates to see anyone cry or in pain.  Most of the time she will lower her head and start to tear up herself.

A couple of nights ago, we were playing on the floor.  Marleigh has a set of toy tools that includes a saw.  It has jagged teeth like a real saw, but of course, they aren't very sharp.  She was running over to me to help me "fix"  her bus, and stumbled a bit.  One of the tips of the saw smacked directly on my new and improved "outie"  belly button.  It hurt so bad, that it brought tears to me eyes.  I didn't yell or anything, but Marleigh's head instantly dropped.  She knew she had hurt Mommy.  She then pulled up my shirt, and put her head on my tummy and said, "I didn't mean to, baby brother.  I'm sorry.  I love you."  The poor little thing had tears in her eyes.  It was obvious she felt bad.  It might be one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.  I kept telling her over and over again that it was okay, and sometimes accidents happen, but she kept telling me she was sorry all night.  Seeing her upset hurt worse than the actual saw on my tummy.

As Marleigh grows up, I hope she keeps her tender heart and her compassion towards others.  Its one of the many qualities I love so much about her.

So much going on!

The last week or two has just been crazy at the Johnson house!

Last Monday,  we had our doctor appointment.  When we got home, I dropped off Marc and Marleigh and headed to sorority.  They were having a baby shower for Jr. and I.  They were all so generous and we got some really great stuff!

Tuesday, I spent the day in Hays for some work related education.

Wednesday evening, I had dinner with some friends.  It was good to spend some time with Jami & Steph.  Jami's son Eli, is 3 months old and adorable!

Thursday night, I was gone picking Fell Foundation Scholarships.  I was a Fell Scholar back in 1999.  Now, I get to be on the committee to decide what high school seniors are awarded the scholarship.

Friday afternoon, my cousin Ben had a track meet in Ellinwood, so Marleigh, Mom and I went to that.  Marleigh had a ball.  She clapped and yelled for Ben.... and it worked!  Ben won the 300M hurdles.  We are so proud of him.  It is looking like he may run track at Barton next year.

Saturday, Marc worked all day getting the backyard ready for my sorority end of the year party.  I cleaned house and kept Marleigh occupied.  The party was fun Saturday night.  It was a beautiful evening for it! Marc and Marleigh got me an amazing patio set for Mother's Day and Marc put it together and had it ready for the party.  It was so thoughtful.  I am a lucky lady!

Sunday, was of course Mother's Day, but Ben also graduated from High School.  We spent the afternoon in Hoisington watching him graduate and then back at my aunt & uncles for his party.

Yesterday, Marc left for some work meetings in Kansas City.  He won't be home until Thursday night.  :(

Things don't look like they will be slowing down, either!  Monica graduates from K-State this weekend.  Dave and Marinda get married the following weekend.  Next is Memorial weekend.  The first weekend in June, Marc has a catbackers golf tournament.  Then it will probably be time for harvest, then 4th of July, and then TIME FOR BABY!!!!  :)
